My Books Are On SALE! Woo-hoo!

Hello, hello. So I'm just getting back from a cruise and am playing catch up (along with trying not to fall out of my desk chair because apparently my brain is still swaying even though I'm no longer on a rocking boat.) It was a great vacation and involved a lot of this:

Turns out staring at the ocean for hours is very rejuvenating. :) I spent most of that time either reading or brainstorming book two in the Pleasure Principle series. But now I'm buried under a pile of laundry and emails. So, though I don't have an official blog for you today, I wanted to pass along an unexpected sale. Looks like a number of my books have dropped in price from 9.99-12.99 to 6.99-7.99! I have no idea how long the sale will be, so I just wanted to share the news in case you wanted to grab any while they're a couple of bucks under normal prices. Here are the ones that are currently on sale:

Nothing Between Us is $6.99, which is a great discount because it's been sitting at $11.99 lately. This is a m/m/f menage romance with a heroine who is quite the Peeping Tom and two men who don't mind being watched. :)

Crash Into You and Melt Into You are $7.99 (normally $12.99) so if you're new to me and want to start the Loving on the Edge series from the start, here's your chance to get book one and two!

Caught Up In You is also $7.99 right now. A geek hero, a former stripper, and a private island. What more do you need to know? ;)

That's all from me for now. Have a great rest of the day!

COVER REVEAL: Melt Into You (the redesign!)

I revealed the new cover for CRASH INTO YOU last week. Now it's time for MELT INTO YOU!

Here it is!

I'm kind of in love--especially because there are three ice cubes and it's a menage story (obvious metaphors FTW!). The couple on the original cover didn't depict that aspect of the story, so it's nice to have that this time around. :-)

So what do you think?

*New covers will be available in October from what I understand.

Want to know what Jace, Evan, and Andre from MELT INTO YOU will be getting up to in their follow-up novella?

Here's the exclusive reveal of the back cover summary. Cover coming soon!

The wait is over. They fell in love in Melt Into You, but that was only the beginning. Now New York Times bestselling author Roni Loren dials up the passion as three lovers reinvent the meaning of togetherness and find out if love is truly enough…

Two dominant men, one beautiful woman. Jace Austin knows he doesn’t have what you’d call a conventional relationship with Evan and Andre, but it works. Boy, does it work—until Evan starts acting strangely and Andre’s ex-fiancée pops back into his life, unbalancing a perfectly happy threesome. Jace is forced to face the unthinkable: that the two people he cares most about in this world are in danger of slipping away from him.

So Jace plans a surprise getaway to a secluded mountain cabin for the three of them. And he knows exactly what he needs to do: give both his lovers a fantasy week they’ll never forget. And the possibilities for pleasure are endless.  But when they get snowed in and the heat between them reaches a fever pitch, secrets come out. And Evan has one that could change all their lives forever.

Out September 16, 2014!

What do you think? Who's excited?

*CONTEST ALERT: Also, I'm over at Sinfully Sexy Reviews, talking about the logisitics of writing a menage romance. There's a chance to win any book from my backlist if you want to pop over there!

MELT INTO YOU is a RITA Finalist!!!!

So today I got some of the best news I've ever heard in my writing life.

One of my books, MELT INTO YOU, is a RITA® Finalist for Best Contemporary Romance Single Title!!!

See all the nominees and categories here.

For those of you who don't know, the RITAs are held by the Romance Writers of America and are like the Academy Awards of romance writing. So this is a huge honor. And even more special is that it's THIS book. Historically, erotic romance has had a nearly impossible time breaking through in the RITAs because there is no specific category for erotic romance. Therefore, you have erotic romances up against sweet ones up against comedic ones, etc.

So the fact that any of my books finaled is huge, but MELT INTO YOU is definitely my most non-traditional romance because it's M/M/F menage romance with m/m scenes included. So I was downright STUNNED that this was the book. Stunned and FREAKING EXCITED! And it really makes it extra special to know that this contest is judged by other published authors. There's something so rewarding about being recognized by your fellow writers (who are often the toughest readers and critics.)

And boy am I up against some great authors and books. I can't even believe I'm listed among them. And I get to go to the black-tie ceremony in July in Atlanta and wear a fancy dress and all that jazz. So yay!!!!

Team Jace and Andre for the win! ;)

*happy dances*

Have a fantastic weekend!

New Music Page: The Loving on the Edge Playlists

At the Marilyn Manson concert in Vegas

So I've been wanting to do this for a while, but knew it was going to be a bit of a project and needed to wait until I had some time to dedicate to it. Finally, this weekend I was able to put it together.

Music has always been a big part of my life and it definitely plays a big role in my writing. I can't write in silence, so I listen to a wide variety of songs while I'm writing. But there are particular ones that stand out in my mind has linked to certain stories or characters or scenes. So I've put together playlists for my series so far, including:

  • Songs that inspired stories or scenes
  • Character Anthems
  • The Dark and Sexy Stuff (i.e. what I imagine playing in the background of the smexy scenes. These are not your typical romance songs because who wants to get flogged to Celine Dion? Though, now that I think about it, that could make for a funny scene.)
  • The Romantic Stuff (the Happily Ever After anthems)

So I hope you'll check out the list.

And in the comments, I'd love to hear what songs are intrinsically tied to one of your stories or characters.

Book Deal Squee-ing: More Loving on the Edge On the Way!

My awesome new stamp for bookplates

Every day I realize how lucky I am to do this whole writing thing for a living. But it's one of those jobs that's always a bit of a crap shoot. You never know how people are going to receive your stories or if they're going to be successful or if you're going to keep getting to do it.

Therefore, each time I get to sign on the dotted line to write more books, I don't take it for granted. So thank you to each and every one of you who have bought my books and enjoyed them. You're the reason I'm going to be writing more stories from The Ranch all the way through 2014. : )

Books five and six have sold!

October 3, 2012

   Fiction:
Women's/Romance
Roni Loren's next two books in her LOVING ON THE EDGE series, revolving around The Ranch - a private BDSM club in Texas, again to Kate Seaver at Berkley Heat, for publication in 2014, in a nice deal, in a two-book deal, by Sara Megibow of Nelson Literary Agency (World).

This means that 2014 will bring you the stories of both Kade Vandergriff (who you meet in STILL INTO YOU and get to see more of in FALL INTO YOU in January) and Colby Wilkes (who shows up subtly in almost every book and has a bigger role in FALL INTO YOU). I can't wait to write the stories for these two. Dates are still floating around but Kade's story will be first, most likely in the Spring of 2014 and Colby's story will be in the fall. (And to see what celebrities I imagine for Kade and Colby inspiration, check out the bottom of my Ranch page.)

AND for those of you who may not be in the States or Canada, rights to CRASH INTO YOU and MELT INTO YOU have sold in the UK and CRASH has sold in France. Woot! So hopefully those editions will be on shelves in the next year or two. : )

Also, big cover news is on the way. I've been talking about it on Twitter, but I'm hoping to share the new covers with y'all in the next few weeks!

That's all for now!

Want A Peek Inside The Ranch?

my own photo

This will be quick. I just wanted to let everyone know that I've added a page up top about The Ranch--the fantasy resort in my Loving on the Edge series. There are pictures, a quick note from Grant, and then at the bottom links to inspiration photos (aka mancandy) for all the heroes in the books.

Hope you enjoy!

And thanks to everyone who weighed in on the "should I change my website?" post on Tuesday. So far the opinions have been pretty evenly divided with a slight edge to keeping the current design. I might end up with some hybrid version. But regardless, I hope to be adding more interesting stuff to the website and this Ranch page is the start of it.

Let me know what you think! And if you are a reader of my books and have any ideas of what you'd like to see on my site, please leave a comment and let me know! : )

Thanks!

Jordan Knight Can Sing the Catalog - Happy 4th!

First, I want to say thanks to everyone who tweeted, pimped, and/or bought MELT INTO YOU so far. *group hug* Y'all are the best! Release day went really well, so I really appreciate all the support.

Also, today I'm over at A Tasty Read talking about how I "built" The Ranch, the BDSM resort in my series.

AND I'm at The Smutketeers asking, Is Having a Favorite Hero Like Having a Favorite Child?

You can also win books at both, so I hope you'll stop by. :)

Now, I'm not doing an official blog since it's a holiday here in the U.S., but I figured I'd leave you with a little summertime entertainment.

Everyone always says of good singers--"They could sing the phone book." Well, apparently Old Navy took that same idea with their catalog and Jordan Knight (of the New Kids on the Block.) So here you go, Jordan Knight sings the summer catalog...

Hope everyone who's celebrating has a lovely (and safe) holiday!

MELT INTO YOU is out today! Her first love has returned & he's brought a friend...

I'm not sure there's anything more exciting for a writer than a book birthday and today is MELT INTO YOU's. Yay!

I loved writing this book and it features my favorite heroes (yes, there are two) in this series so far. I also took a few risks in this story that I wasn't sure I'd get away with, but I did. ;)  I hope y'all will check it out!

Read! Enjoy! Review! :) (Yes, I'm shameless.)

Here's what a few early reviewers are saying:

"A book has to be really special to keep me up all night, and this book my friends is it." - Danielle of Ramblings From This Chick

"With a tangle of complex relationships, some of the sexiest fictional men out there, one of the stronger female leads in the genre and a whole lot of steam and heart, Melt into You by Roni Loren will push every button you got and have you begging for more." - Allie Sanders, Goodreads review

"I can’t say enough about this book. It really gave me everything that I want in a romance. It’s edgy, entertaining, emotional, and romantic. It’s just beautifully written. The sex scenes are sizzling hot. The plot line is like a roller coaster ride. It’s full of ups and downs and moments where you can’t take anymore and your tummy is in knots, but when you hit the last page, you say “let’s ride it again”. That is exactly what you get with this book." - Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

Her first love has returned, and he's brought a friend...

After running away from home and the boy who broke her heart, Evan Kennedy has kick-started the perfect new life with her celebrity fiancé. So what if said fiancé prefers guys? She knew the deal. And with her ticket to The Ranch, an exclusive resort where any fantasy can be satisfied, she knows she can find someone to fulfill her less-than-traditional desires on the side.

She just never expected that man to be Jace Austin, her old heart-breaker—all grown up, hard-bodied, and holding out a collar. She knows it’s probably a world-class bad idea—especially since Jace has brought along his buddy Andre, who’s every bit as irresistible. But if they can stick to the no-strings rules, so can she.

Too bad Jace has never been so good with rules. Evan is convinced “forever” is a word used only in greeting cards, but Jace and Andre have one last fantasy of hers left to fulfill. It’s time to go big or go home. And neither man has ever been a fan of going home.

And if you'd like to check out the first chapter, you can read it here.

Got Rhythm? Finding It In Your Story #atozchallenge

So I had the best of intentions, but I've come to the conclusiong that book deadline + weeklong conference out of town next week (RT Con) + blogging challenge is a bit of a deadly combination. To write seven posts before I leave on Tuesday is uh, a little too ambitious. So, instead of just slapping up some filler post where I post a music video or something, I'm going to rerun some of my popular posts from my former writing blog. I hope some of these will be new to you and that you find them worthwhile.

Looking For the Rhythm In Your Story

As I wade through my editing for FALL INTO YOU, I'm discovering that one of the big things I pay attention to when doing my read through is cadence, or the rhythm of the words. I think it was Margie Lawson's workshop where I first heard this term used in relation to writing.

We all know about voice and style, but cadence is more the way the words sound in your head as your read them. It's the flow and the music of the prose. It's why I may use a one-word incomplete sentence somewhere instead of something longer. Part of that is my style, but a lot of it has to do with making sure the rhythm works.

And one of the best ways to see if your story has good cadence or rhythm is to read it aloud. A lot of times when we read our own work in our head, our brain naturally skims. Hell, we've written it, we know what's there and what's coming. But this can hurt you because you may be missing places where a reader with fresh eyes may stumble on a sentence. Even in our heads we need places in prose to "take a breath" while we're reading.

Maybe your crit partners point this out, but most likely it's such a subtle thing that many will intuitively feel the little stumble but not really get hit over the head enough to mark it down and bring it to your attention.

So I literally sit in my office and read passages of my book out loud. Pretend you're the narrator doing the audiobook. Does it flow? Does the scene sound how you want it too--pretty, ethereal, hard and fast-paced, sensual, etc?

Not every scene is going to have the same cadence, nor do you want it to. If they're in the middle of the car chase, the words better not read like poetry. So know what your intention is and then see if the rhythm of the words fits what you were going for.

So here are my opening lines of my prologue in MELT INTO YOU - out in July. (And yes, I know, a prologue! *gasp* But well, it's there. I like it. And so did my agent and editor. So see, "rules" can be broken.)

Most of the time temptation climbs onto your lap and straddles you, demands you deal with it immediately. Give in or deprive yourself. Choose your adventure.

Jace’s general stance: deprivation was overrated.

But he’d never faced this kind of temptation. The kind that seeped into your skin so slowly you didn’t even notice until you were soaked with it, saturated. To the point that every thought, every breath seemed to be laced with the desire for that thing you shouldn’t have.

And right now that thing was nibbling flecks of purple polish off her fingernails.

So okay, see where you'd take the breaths (hint: breaths happen at commas and periods)? And we're in a dude's head so the thoughts start off short and to the point, but then he gets wrapped up with how much this is getting to him. If you read it aloud hopefully it flows. It did when I went through it.

But do you see where I'm going with the cadence thing? Do you think about this when you're going through your work? Do you read it aloud either to yourself or to a writer's group?

Breaking Out of Your Comfort Zone #atozchallenge

Photo by Lars Plougmann (click photo for link)Today is day two of the A to Z Challenge (you can still sign up, btw) and I want to talk about why I chose to do this thing--even though it's going to be a crazy busy month for me and doing extra blogging is probably the opposite of a good idea.

I am a creature of habit, and I appreciate structure. Having a set schedule with some theme days here on the blog keeps me on track. But, that kind of schedule and structure can also become a bit of a crutch and a comfort zone, so it's important every now and then to break out of your comfort zone and do something different.

This challenge will force me to think past my normal topics and will shake up my schedule completely. Honestly, even two days in, it's a little uncomfortable, lol. We'll see if I survive or curl up in the fetal position and return to my normal blogging world.

But breaking out doesn't have to apply only to blogging. Using the same mentality in your writing can also be a tremendous help. Just like any other part of our life, we get in our happy, safe place in our writing. We only write THIS genre and we only write THESE types of stories at THIS length. Some of that is necessary. I'm writing a series and have a contract that says I need to stay in this genre and world for these books. But that doesn't mean I don't need to look for places to push myself.

When I turned in Melt Into You to my editor, her notes back to me were "I love the risks you took in the book!" That was amazing feedback to hear because A) I was nervous as hell that she'd hate where I took the story and B) I realized not only was it okay to step outside my box, but it was fun and made for a much better story than if I would've tried to recreate the same kind of story I did in Crash.

So push yourself to look for ways to break out of the mold you're currently in. Try a new genre, write a short story or some poetry, shake up your blog schedule, or listen to music you may not normally be into. You never know what treasures or inspiration you may find in the world outside that box. In fact, I can't tell you how many writers I've talked to that didn't get their agent or book deal until they tried something completely different than what they'd been doing. (Including me. I started out writing YA. I sure as heck never thought I'd end up finding my voice in the erotic romance genre.)

So never be afraid to break out. :) And if you need a little extra inspiration...here are the Foo Fighters to jump start your Monday with "Breakout". *shakes out hair and prepares to headbang*

Have you done anything lately to break out of a rut or comfort zone?

An Exclusive Peek Inside MELT INTO YOU

Hey, y'all. I'm still mired in deadline craziness, so today I thought I'd share a brand new excerpt from MELT INTO YOU, book two in my Loving on the Edge series. For those of you who have read CRASH INTO YOU, this is Jace's story. But there's also another hero involved in this book, so today I thought I'd give you a little peek of Andre--Jace's roommate and uh, close friend. ;)

Location: A hot tub at The Ranch

Evan took a deep breath—as if that would do a damn bit of good—and nodded at Andre. “Sure. Come on in.”

He flashed an easy smile and grabbed the tray of sandwiches off the lounge chair and set it on the side of the hot tub. “Start eating, bella. I have a feeling Jace has big plans for you, and he won’t put up with you skipping meals. Don’t want you passing out.”

Something about the way he said bellabey-yah—made her all fluttery inside. Like her female genes were wired to be a sucker for the way that spice-laced accent rolled off his tongue. Made her want to find out if those lips tasted as good as his words.

She reached over and grabbed one of the sandwiches to give her shaky hands something to do. Her normally voracious appetite had been non-existent all day, but after round one with Jace, she was already feeling a little weak. Sustenance wasn’t optional. She bit into the sandwich right as Andre peeled off his t-shirt.

Bad idea. She nearly choked on the first bite.

Hot damn, he was beautiful—hard, well-honed muscles, naturally tan skin, and a faint trail of black hair tracking from his navel down. Her gaze traveled up his torso and paused at silver glinting in the moonlight. Nipple rings. She’d almost forgotten that sexy little detail from the night in South Padre. There was something so darkly enticing about that kind of piercing on a man. A blatant, unapologetic pronouncement of sexuality.

She bit her lip, wondering what it would be like to run her tongue over one of the rings, to tug it with her teeth. She shoved another bite of sandwich into her mouth before she did something stupid. Like gave Andre permission to do whatever the hell he wanted to her.

He hooked his thumbs in the waistband of his shorts and then glanced down at her. She must’ve looked like a deer in headlights—she certainly felt like one. He chuckled. “Sorry. Habit. I’ll keep these on.”

She didn’t know if she was relieved by his decision or damn disappointed. God, what the hell was wrong with her? She already had an equally potent man to herself for the weekend. How could she even be tempted to want more than that? She barely knew if she could handle Jace without melting into a puddle of uselessness.

Andre straddled the side of the tub and then slid into the water, taking a seat on the opposite side from her. “Ahh, that’s nice.”

Hell yes it was. She was suddenly very happy for the water concealing her body because she was certain her nipples had hardened as soon as he’d gotten near. Ugh. This had to be a side effect of long-term abstinence.

He stretched his arms out along the edge of the tub and sank lower, letting his head rest against the side, but keeping his eyes on her. “Relax, Evan. Jace wasn’t kidding. I’m not going to make a move on you.”

Unless she asked. He didn’t say it, but the rest of the sentence hung in the steam-filled air between them. She set her sandwich down.

Hope you enjoyed it! Have a great Monday!
