Teaser Tuesday: YOURS ALL ALONG

It's TEASER TUESDAY time! Today it's a snippet from YOURS ALL ALONG, my first m/m romance, out in 2 weeks!

This one has a "bookended" structure, so you'll see Hunter and Devon in present day at the beginning and end of the book, but the middle portion of the book is about what happened in college.

Teaser:

Hunter smirked, and they trudged toward the frat house, the wind seeming to get harder and colder as they walked. Where the hell did California get off having this kind of weather anyway?

But the chill only got marginally better when they slipped inside the front door of the house. Hunter’s breath came out in a white puff. “What the f**k?”

Ames, one of the brothers who’d run ahead of him, stepped out of the kitchen, coffee mug in hand. “Looks like we weren’t the only ones pranking tonight. Heat’s been cut off and some jerkoff threw all of our blankets and bedding into the pool.”

“What?” Dev asked, looking up the staircase.

“Maintenance can’t get out here until the morning. I’m heading over to my girlfriend’s apartment. You might want to find a place to crash, too, or plan on sleeping in your coats tonight.” He patted Dev on his way to the door. “Nice work tonight, gentlemen.”

Devon watched Ames go and then both he and Hunter vaulted up the stairs to their room. When they pushed open the door, they both cursed simultaneously.

“Motherf**k.”

“Son of a bitch.”

Devon’s bed had been completely stripped down to the mattress, and a bag of ice from the local gas station had been opened up and spread across it. A note pinned to the headboard read, Sigmas wet the bed.

Hunter’s bed was stripped as well, but apparently they’d run out of ice because instead of the full ice bath, all of Hunter’s underwear were strewn across the bed, and baby powder had been dumped all over them. His note read, Sigmas sh*t their pants. Hunter stalked over and swept the laundry from his bed, sending a powdery cloud wafting through the room. “Bastards.”

Devon coughed. “At least your bed is mostly dry. And smells baby fresh.”

Hunter looked over at the mess on Devon’s side of the room. “No shit. No way you can sleep on that. Let’s get all of that off of yours so it can dry out. I’ve got extra blankets and pillows in the closet. You can share my bed tonight.”

Devon lifted a brow. “You’re not even going to buy me dinner first? What kind of boy do you think I am?”

Hunter grabbed an ice cube and chucked it at him. “Shut it, Easton. You’re lucky I’m not making you sleep on the petri couch.”

Ugh, no way. Devon shuddered at the thought of putting any exposed skin on the main couch downstairs. Two decades of parties, hookups, and God knows what else on that fabric. “Screw that. I think the floor in the bathroom is cleaner than that couch. But seriously, you sure you’re okay with sharing a bed? I mean, if you’re weirded out by that or you’re worried about what the other guys will say, I’m not going to be offended. I can find somewhere to crash.”

“With one of your on-again, off-again boyfriends?”

“No, I don’t have boyfriends. Too much work. I have acquaintances who I occasionally do dirty things with.”

Hunter sniffed. “No need to go whore yourself out for a bed to sleep in. I’m fine. Just don’t steal my covers, ’cause it’s f**king frigid in here.”

Hunter walked over to the closet and dumped out a laundry bin, lined it with a garbage bag, and then brought it over to Devon’s bed to start moving the ice into it. They worked in silence for a while, just the clink of the ice hitting the plastic container filling the room, but the quiet was anything but calm for Devon. He was going to share a bed with Hunter. They’d roomed together for almost a year. Things were comfortable. Good. Devon admired without crossing any lines. But it was going to be torture sharing that small bed with the warm, hard body of the university’s favorite athlete.

Friday Reads: ONE CUT DEEPER by Joely Sue Burkhart

I've been in the mood for dark romance reading lately. Not sure why. Maybe it's all this rain that WON'T GO AWAY. Ugh. But anyway, I found a great one this week. ONE CUT DEEPER by Joely Sue Burkhart. Ok, first, fair warning. This one is very dark. The BDSM stuff is pretty extreme--knife play, blood play, etc. So know that going in. But despite some of it making me cringe (because of my own comfort zone being pushed), it made sense for the characters. This is for those of you who sometimes find those villains sexy. I love when a writer goes off the reservation with a hero but still keeps him sympathetic and likable, and that's what we have here. I also love when I read something and go--hey, I haven't read this type of story/plot/hero/whatever before. There is also a thriller/suspense type plot that dominates this story in a good way. Let me know if you give it a shot.

Blurb:

Her needs are dark. His are dangerous.

Charlie MacNiall has been bringing his beautiful king shepherd to the vet clinic where Ranay Killian works for the better part of a year. She doesn't realize he's been slowly wooing her. She certainly has no idea that he picked her deliberately--that she is to become his. A broken heart and a desperate desire to be dominated make her the perfect victim.

His perfect victim.

Charlie fixes Ranay, testing her emotional limits while pushing her sexual boundaries past anything she'd imagined possible. Pain is their shared pleasure...until Charlie disappears and Ranay is all but destroyed.

The FBI says the man she loves is a serial killer. Ranay can't deny there's a darkness in Charlie, a monstrous hunger that drives him to the brink. She even believes he could kill. But Charlie's hunger is what bonds them--it's the foundation of their love. Would he actually kill her?

Teaser Tuesday and a Cover Reveal for BREAK ME DOWN!

It's Tuesday again and time for a teaser. And I've got a cover reveal to go along with it!

I'm still writing this one so things may change, but for those of you who don't know, this is the story of Gibson (Kade's brother) and Sam (Tessa's BFF)--both were introduced in Need You Tonight.

So here's a snippet and the cover reveal! AND it's up for pre-order on Kindle and Nook for $2.99 if you want to make sure you don't miss it. Remember with pre-order, you're always guaranteed the best price.

Snippet from BREAK ME DOWN, coming October 2015!

But before she could complete the breath, a booming knock rocketed through the farmhouse, rattling the door and and sending a scream right up her throat. Darcy barked from upstairs. Sam clamped her hands over her mouth just in time to cut it off. But she scrambled to her feet and turned toward the front doorway like the Big Bad Wolf was about to bust through.

Whoever this was, it couldn’t be good. It was too early and this house was too far out for it to be someone selling something. She needed to get to the bedroom and get the gun she kept in there. But the windows in the living room had thin curtains and she’d have to cross that room to get to the stairs. What if whoever it was saw her?

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Her hands shook. There were knives in the kitchen. That’d be something. She took a step that way when the banging came again, each knock like a jolt of electric anxiety through her.

But just as she almost made it to the doorway to the kitchen, a familiar voice echoed through the house. “Sam, it’s Gib. I know you’re here. Open up.”

Every tight muscle in her body sagged in relief. Gibson. It was Gibson. Not an ax murderer in a hockey mask. Okay. Okay.

But then as soon as that thought settled—I’m safe. Another one hit. It was Gibson

She had no idea how he’d found her, but she’d told him to leave her alone when she’d left The Ranch. And she was a fucking mess right now. If she’d wanted his help, she would’ve asked him for it. That sent a rush of righteous indignation right up her spine, anger hot on its heels.

Part of her was tempted to just ignore his pushy ass. Pretend she wasn’t here. But knowing him, he’d break the frigging door down. So instead, she gathered up that anger into a nice, spinning ball in her gut and stalked toward the door.

He banged on it again before she could reach it, so when she swung the door open, his fist was still hovering in the air. He blinked as if surprised she’d actually appeared, and then blatant relief descended over his features. “Thank fuck.”

Her jaw clenched, and she had to force it to relax to speak. “What the hell?”

His gaze skated over her, a deep line appearing between his brows. “Shit, Sam, you look…baby.”

She had a good idea what she looked like. She was sweaty, covered with wood dust, and between the slap earlier and all the crying, her face probably looked like she’d been hit with a wet bag of rocks. Goddammit. This was the last thing she needed Gibson to see. And the fact that he’d forced her into letting him see her like this pissed her off even more. “Don’t you dare call my baby or look at me like that. You’re not supposed to be here. I didn’t invite you.”

His blue eyes flicked upward, rigid determination there. “You don’t need to be alone right now. And you damn well shouldn’t be alone out here in the middle of nowhere.” He swung a hand toward the door. “A stiff wind would knock this thing down. What are you thinking?”

Well, that just punched all her bitch buttons. “Thanks for stopping by. It’s been fun. I’m alive and fine. You can go home now. Buh-bye.”

She moved to shut the door, but his hand flew out to block it from closing.  “Oh, no you don’t. You can be pissed at me all you want. But if you think I’m leaving you out here like this, let me alleviate you of that notion. Not gonna happen, sunshine.”

Her grip on the door tightened. “What? You gonna drag me out kicking and screaming, Gib? I’ll fucking fight you.”

A muscle in his jaw ticked and he took a step forward. “You know I’m not going to put my hands on you like that. But you either come willingly or you’re going to be staring at my ugly mug until you do.”

Ugly mug was about as far from the truth as possible. Even with dark shadows under his eyes, his hair disheveled from raking fingers, and a wrinkled shirt, he looked like he’d just fallen off the stage of some hot man revue. But she was too ticked off to care about how hot he was. Mostly.

“Leave, Gib.”

“Not unless you come with me.” He ducked under the arm she had braced on the door and strode inside.

“Oh my God.” She spun around, the door swinging shut on its own behind her. “Boundaries, dude. Ever heard of the word?”

“Yep. Can spell it and everything.” Gib crossed his arms over his chest and smiled.

Who's looking forward to Gib and Sam? And what do you think of the cover? I love that blue.

Friday Reads: Two Great Books & It Will Only Cost You a Buck

So I've been doing theme days this week (a little bit on here and a little on my FB page), which has been fun. Today is Friday Reads. I'm going to give you two recs. One is what I read this week and one is one of my fave m/m romances that's on sale. And bonus, one is free and one is only a dollar! You're welcome. ;)

First is THE HOSTAGE BARGAIN by Annika Martin. I saw her speak at RT and because I loved PRISONER, a book she co-wrote with Skye Warren, I decided to give it a try. This book is such frothy, campy fun. Three hot bank robbers take a teller hostage and she decides she wants to be part of the gang. It's silly and funny and super sexy. I love the banter with the heroes. If you're looking for something steamy that will also make you laugh (in a good way), check this one out. The first is free but there's also a boxed set with all three books for a good price as well.

Next is Damon Suede's HOT HEAD. I read it a few years ago, but when I saw that it was on sale for just a $1, I had to pass that along. I loved this book. One of my favorite m/m romances. It's super sexy and great characters with lots of emotion. And it's friends to lovers AND hot firefighters. I mean, come on? Why are you still here? Go, get it. Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!

So now it's your turn. Tell me what you're reading or what you want to recommend this week. :)

Teaser Tuesday: YOURS ALL ALONG

Less than a month away before Devon and Hunter are here!

Here's a little snippet from YOURS ALL ALONG:

Devon turned onto the mostly deserted city streets and headed toward the on ramp for the highway. Music played low in the background, but Hunter couldn’t focus on anything besides the fact that he was in Dallas in a car with Devon after all this time. How many times had they ridden just like this, laughing about things, giving each other shit, or singing along to the radio? An old ache opened up in his chest—one where friendship and comfort and other warm things used to reside. He rubbed the spot with the heel of his hand.

Devon peered over, expression shuttered. “So, you going to tell me why you’re here?”

“I told you. My fiancée sent me out here to take a vacation.”

“Not why you’re in Dallas, Hunt, why you were in my bar.”

A thousand answers jumped to his lips. Because I needed to see you. Because I’ve missed you. Because I couldn’t not. “I need a best man for my wedding, and Macy thought you’d be a good choice.”

A bitter laugh burst out of Devon at that. “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.”

Hunter turned away, staring out the windows as the car picked up speed and merged onto the highway. He imagined the vehicles whizzing by crashing into each other and piling up. He still had nightmares that looked like that.

“You’re serious? The girl you’re marrying wanted you to come find me to be your best man?”

He swallowed past the tightness in his throat. “She heard we were close.”

“That’s one way of putting it,” Devon muttered.

“She doesn’t know that stuff.” He shifted in his seat. “No one does.”

“I’m surprised you’re even admitting there was stuff. I figured all of that would’ve been obliterated in that convenient memory loss the accident caused.”

Memory loss? Hunter wished. “I didn’t forget.”

Dev’s jaw twitched. “So you’re telling me you came all the way out here after four years of not speaking to me to ask me to be in your wedding? That’s bullshit. And if it’s not bullshit, then you’re an even bigger asshole than I thought.”

“I don’t want you to be in my goddamned wedding. I just—I was here. I thought I’d come to see you.” He hated the way his voice sounded—seeking, defensive.

Devon’s fingers flexed on the steering wheel, restrained anger evident in each curl of his hand. “Is this like the AA thing where you go say sorry to everyone you pissed off before you move forward? Tie up everything in neat bows before you walk down the aisle and into happily every after?”

“What? No.” He took off his cap and raked a hand through his hair.

“Or maybe you just need one more time with a guy before the big day just to make sure any of those rogue gay urges are fully out of your system.”

He stiffened at the stinging tone and suggestion. “No, I—fuck, never mind.” He slouched in his too small seat, pulling his hat low over his eyes, and glared out the window. “Just get me to the resort. I shouldn’t have shown up tonight. This was a mistake.”

“Heh.” Devon sniffed. “You seem to make those a lot around me. Guess some things haven’t changed.”

Hunter leaned his head back against the seat and closed his eyes, remembering the last time he’d uttered that same phrase. No, some things hadn’t changed.

Everything had. All in one night.

And nothing had been the same since.
