Okay, on to the Friday Read! This week I read Crosstown Crush by Cara McKenna. Cara is one of those authors who always pushes boundaries and does it well, so she's pretty much become an auto buy for me. This book covers the kink of cuckholding (getting turned on at the thought of your partner cheating on you.) That is not a kink that most of us understand, and I admit, it's a hard for me to wrap my head around it on a personal level. But that's why I was excited to see this author tackle it.
I go into these books like--Okay, author, convince me that you can make this believable and sexy and compel me to read about something that isn't my thing. (For the record, this is what I try to do in my own writing, too. Like even if you don't think a fem dom story like Break Me Down would be appealing to you, I want to draw you in and change your mind. ;) We'll see if I succeeded! lol ) But in this case, McKenna got me to buy into this story and these characters. And I also walked away feeling like I had a better understanding of what may drive someone who has this kink--though I'm sure the reasons for each person are completely individual and varied. Overall, this was a quick, compelling read.
And it's a hot one, so be prepared! :)
So what are you reading this fine Friday? And has any book convinced you into reading it even when the topic my not normally be your cup of tea?
