MY BIG NEWS: The ONES WHO GOT AWAY Series has sold to Sourcebooks!

If you've been hanging around here lately, you know I've been hinting for a while that I had some big news to share. Well, I finally can talk about it! Yay!

I've sold a three-book contemporary romance series to Sourcebooks!!!

Here's the official announcement:

From Publishers Weekly:

New York Times bestselling and RITA award-winning, Roni Loren’s THE ONES WHO GOT AWAY, a contemporary romance series following the survivors of a school shooting twelve years later, damaged souls who discover they are worthy of receiving and giving love, to Cat Clyne at Sourcebooks, in a three-book deal, for publication in 2017, by Sara Megibow of KT Literary Agency.

I'm so, so excited to be working on this new project and am thrilled to partner with Sourcebooks to do it. Tackling school violence as part of a romance is a little out there, I know. But when this idea came to me, it was one that wouldn't leave me alone. I really wanted to explore the idea of how people heal and find their HEA after not just tragedy but after being part of something that defined their existence both privately and publicly, when you're labeled as a "survivor" or in this case, The Ones Who Got Away.

But be assured, this will still be what you've (hopefully) come to expect from my books--emotional romance, sexy/steamy times, and humor to balance out the heavy stuff. Though, note that these will be contemporary romance not erotic romance.

I don't have a set release date yet, but the tentative plan right now is for the first to release in the Fall of 2017. The books will be available in both ebook and mass market paperback. I can't wait to start this new journey! :)

Also, this does not mean that I'm shutting down my other series or erotic romance. I'll blog more on the details of that tomorrow. But for now *throws confetti*

Book News! More Loving on the Edge heading your way!

Hello, Pike (photo purchased from Big Stock)

So I've been sitting on this news for a little while and couldn't wait to share it with y'all. Especially when many of you have been emailing me and asking me the questions:

Will there be more books in the series?

What heroes are going to get their own books?

Are we ever going to see so and so again?

Will NOT UNTIL YOU have a paperback edition?

Well, finally I can tell all. Because this was annouced in Publisher's Marketplace today:

Women's/Romance
NYT bestselling author Roni Loren's next two books in her Loving on the Edge series and the first book in a new contemporary erotic romance series, to Kate Seaver at Berkley Heat, in a good deal, in a three-book deal, for publication in 2015, by Sara Megibow of Nelson Literary Agency(World).

Yay!

So what does this all mean specifically? Well here goes.

  • Yes, NOT UNTIL YOU, will be compiled into a complete edition and will be available in paperback and ebook in November. Thank you to everyone who bought the serial because that made it possible for the paperback edition to be greenlighted. So *hugs* to you all for making it happen. : )
  • There will be at least two more Loving on the Edge books after Colby's book, NOTHING BETWEEN US (which comes out in January)!
  • Book 7 will be...Pike (Foster's BFF from NOT UNTIL YOU)
  • Book 8 will be...Gibson and Sam (Kade's brother from NEED YOU TONIGHT and Tessa's BFF)
  • The new series concept is to be determined at this point, so more news when I have it.
  • Also, some minor characters will be getting short stories. More details on how that will work later. : )
  • AND in September of this year there will be a Loving on the Edge novella called FOREVER STARTS TONIGHT and it's going to be about *drumroll*... Jace, Evan, and Andre! So all of you who wanted more after MELT INTO YOU and had burning questions about what happened next, you'll get to see. :)

And if I don't say it enough, I want to thank each and every one of you who read my books. You are the reason I get to keep writing these. I heart you all!

*By the way, if you like the photo of Pike above, I've updated all the photos of the heroes on The Ranch page. Check it out. :)

So are you as excited as I am? What hero were you most hoping would get his own book?

Book Deal Squee-ing: More Loving on the Edge On the Way!

My awesome new stamp for bookplates

Every day I realize how lucky I am to do this whole writing thing for a living. But it's one of those jobs that's always a bit of a crap shoot. You never know how people are going to receive your stories or if they're going to be successful or if you're going to keep getting to do it.

Therefore, each time I get to sign on the dotted line to write more books, I don't take it for granted. So thank you to each and every one of you who have bought my books and enjoyed them. You're the reason I'm going to be writing more stories from The Ranch all the way through 2014. : )

Books five and six have sold!

October 3, 2012

   Fiction:
Women's/Romance
Roni Loren's next two books in her LOVING ON THE EDGE series, revolving around The Ranch - a private BDSM club in Texas, again to Kate Seaver at Berkley Heat, for publication in 2014, in a nice deal, in a two-book deal, by Sara Megibow of Nelson Literary Agency (World).

This means that 2014 will bring you the stories of both Kade Vandergriff (who you meet in STILL INTO YOU and get to see more of in FALL INTO YOU in January) and Colby Wilkes (who shows up subtly in almost every book and has a bigger role in FALL INTO YOU). I can't wait to write the stories for these two. Dates are still floating around but Kade's story will be first, most likely in the Spring of 2014 and Colby's story will be in the fall. (And to see what celebrities I imagine for Kade and Colby inspiration, check out the bottom of my Ranch page.)

AND for those of you who may not be in the States or Canada, rights to CRASH INTO YOU and MELT INTO YOU have sold in the UK and CRASH has sold in France. Woot! So hopefully those editions will be on shelves in the next year or two. : )

Also, big cover news is on the way. I've been talking about it on Twitter, but I'm hoping to share the new covers with y'all in the next few weeks!

That's all for now!

The Return of the Serial Novel and My New Book Deal!

Hello, all. I know Fridays are usually reserved for my weekly links roundup, but I'm postponing that for a super fantastic announcement. :)

For those of you who get Publisher's Marketplace, you've probably already seen it, but this posted last night:

   Fiction:
Women's/Romance
Roni Loren's next story in her LOVING ON THE EDGE series about an innocent vet school student who joins her sexy neighbors at a BDSM ranch for one weekend of freedom before she starts her professional life, to Kate Seaver at Berkley Heat, releasing in serial installments, for publication in 2013, in a nice deal, by Sara Megibow of Nelson Literary Agency (world).

Photo by Robb North (flickr cc)Yay! So for those of you who are closely following my series, you may be wondering whose book this will be. Well, this is going to be Ian Foster's (from STILL INTO YOU) and Cela Medina's (Andre's little sister) story. Originally, it was only going to be the novella, NOT UNTIL YOU. But things have changed and now Ian and Cela get their own full story!

AND it's going to be released in the new (or very old depending on how you look at it) format of the e-serial. This means it will be released in sections. We haven't decided how many segments yet. Most likely 6-8, but we're going to determine where the natural breaks in the story occur before we nail that down. Each segment will be released once a week.

I am so excited about this project and about this format. I wasn't sure at first when I heard about the e-serial because I'm a person to devour books all in one sitting. But then I gave Beth Kery's serial Because You Are Mine a try and am finding that I'm really enjoying this kind of reading. Because the segments are brief, I'm able to finish one in two nights of sitting by the bathtub while my son bathes. It's kind of nice to feel like I completed something each time. And it keeps me immersed in the story longer. Sometimes I read so fast that I'm sad the story is already over. So this kind of makes it more of an experience when it's stretched out piece by delicious piece over time.

So I was won over to the format. Then my editor contacted me wanting to discuss the possibility of turning Ian's story into a serial. I couldn't have been happier. Ian's story (who is going to be called by his last name Foster now--since by coincidence, Beth Kery's hero is named Ian too, lol) is different from my others. I haven't written a heroine this young and inexperienced before (though she's no pushover, Andre is her brother after all). It was a new challenge and a whole lot of fun.

Dates are still floating around but this will release after FALL INTO YOU in late Spring or Early Summer.

And be on the look out for more people releasing books this way. The e-serial thing was starting to buzz in a lot of places already, but now that Amazon has released their Kindle Serials, expect to hear even more about it.

Here are just a few places that have tackled the topic lately:

The Revival of the Serial - Dear Author

Books on the Installment Plan via The Kill Zone

Ebooks anf the Return of the Serial Novel via SeattlePi

Beth Kery on Writing the Serialized Novel via USA Today's Happily Ever After

So that's my news. : )

How do you feel about the return of the serial? Do you think it's a format you'll enjoy? (It seems people either love it or hate it, lol.)
